Gen-Z experts give talks on "Digital vs. Real Self"
May 13, 2019
The authors of GIM's inhouse study "Digital Self vs. Real Self", Corporate Director Patricia Blau and Senior Research Manager Tina Choi-Odenwald, will give two talks on their survey in May.
On 27 May, they will present their findings at the sixth ResearchPlus Rhein-Neckar in Mannheim, organized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Online-Forschung (DGOF e.V.). After prior registration, participation in the event is free of charge.
The researchers will also present their findings at the 47th cosmetics symposium of the BDIH (Bundesverband der Industrie- und Handelsunternehmen für Arzneimittel, Reformwaren, Nahrungsergänzungsmittel und kosmetische Mittel e.V.). The title of the presentation in Ludwigshafen (Rh.) will be "The generation Z - realizations to their behavior in the social media and the consequences for the cosmetics consumption".
The GIM study examines the discrepancy between the "digital self", i.e. the self-presentation in social media, and the "real self" of 16 to 23-year-olds. The results of the representative study show which motifs predominate for media self-presentation. The roles of social media and different usage scenarios are also examined. In addition, the study provides insights into which (beauty) ideals 16- to 23-year-olds pursue and how their attitudes and needs change over the years.
GIM offers its inhouse study "Digital Self vs. Real Self" to all interested parties as free download (available in German only).
