Welcome@GIM Berlin!

The GIM capital city office in the middle of Berlin Mitte

Welcome to the website of our city office in the capital. GIM Berlin's office was opened in 2001 and is located in Schumannstraße in the lively district of Berlin-Mitte.

What prompted us at the time to establish a branch in this unique metropolis (which, by the way, is a very normal city in many places)? We thought it was the perfect setting for ethnic and trend research as well as studies with unusual participants and mindsets. Since GIM also had an office in Moscow at the time, the Berlin branch also acted as a kind of "gateway to Eastern Europe" for the entire GIM Group for almost a decade.

Similar to Heidelberg, GIM Berlin started its research operations in start-up size and with a focus on "Quali" research - but then grew rapidly, both in terms of personnel and portfolio. Today, our team of about 35 on site is interdisciplinary, covering almost all skills, methods and industries - effectively "the big GIM in small".

An ideal environment for excellent research

How is it to work here? In a nutshell: simply great! The office is very centrally located (Berlin Mitte), in a typical office district. The public transport connection is excellent, there is hardly a Berlin GIMie who has to travel more than 30 minutes (without a car). Nearby are, among others, the main train station, the Charité Clinic and the German Theater - whose courtyard is a popular spot for lunch breaks.

Especially during lunchtime on weekdays, you can choose from numerous restaurants and bistros with a wide variety of different offerings. In addition, many cultural institutions are waiting to be explored on foot. The famous Museum Island, for example, is only a 20-minute walk away.

Spacious old building, modern equipment

The heritage-protected building in which the GIM Berlin team works is a typical old building with high ceilings and spacious corridors and rooms. During the Second World War, a maternity clinic was located here. Now and then, older people still come by to look at the building - so GIM really is in the middle of Berlins life.

Speaking of Berlin's lifestyle: tolerance and openness are truly defining, the city is a hub and cultural melting pot. From high culture to Berlin club life, there is something for everyone. Every neighborhood is different, as if many small towns were coming together to form "the one Berlin." And all this at a still comparatively low cost of living.

Almost all methods, tools, topics and industries

We already mentioned it: Unlike in its first years, GIM Berlin today no longer has a specific focus in terms of portfolio. Of course, there are "specials" here and there, but all in all, you get the GIM-wide big offer here. This means:

The "Quantis" have a powerful tracking team ( focus!), take care of data management as well as advanced analytics - but of course also complete many ad hoc projects. The "Qualis" offer classics such as product, concept, design and target group research, as well as workshops, CX, POS and ethno-research.

However, the two disciplines are not separate worlds, as is the case at GIM in general: integrated quant-quant projects are the rule - from project start to data collection, to the analysis phase and reporting.

"The Berlin office combines everything I want: a central location in the heart of the city, a beautiful old building with history and, of course, and above all, the colleagues on site, who are only a hallway away! And the train to Heidelberg headquarters is right around the corner at the main station."

Anna Sive (Senior Research Managerin)

"I like the inspiring and nice interaction with my colleagues and the pleasant working atmosphere of our beautiful offices in the middle of Berlin."

Soo-Youn Lee (Senior Research Managerin)

Team@work = Teamwork

The Berlin office is led by Senior Research Director Caroline Reimann and Research Director Maria Wronka. Caroline is co-head of our Quantitative Research (GIM Numeric) and Maria, as one of the most experienced Berlin "Qualis", is co-responsible for the research for our Home & Beauty clients. GIM Managing Director Dr. Stephan Telschow is also part of the Berlin team and has been leading the Berlin office for almost 20 years.

The team atmosphere is relaxed, almost family-like - even though the "quantis" and "qualis" are spread out over different floors. But that doesn't matter: there is enough space and time for common activities: in addition to the foosball room and lunch breaks together, the confis are also used for social gatherings, such as movie nights with pizza and beer. In addition, there are cross-team Christmas parties. A special feature of which we are very proud throughout GIM: the "GIM Berlin Runners" regularly participate successfully in company and city runs in Berlin and Potsdam.

The undisputed "Feelgood Manager" and institution of GIM-Berlin is Gertrud "Gerdi" Brüstle: She runs the staff office and IT management, coordinates meetings and takes care when things don't go as they should. And: As a trained yoga teacher, Gerdi provides the whole GIM several times a week with tips on how to keep fit with an office job.
