« backPositive review of 2009 despite a difficult economic situation
Despite the difficult economic environment and notable effects of the economic crisis on the market research sector GIM closes the financial year 2009 with a positive balance. With 16.1 million EUR (GIM group) the turnover 2009 almost reaches the very good result of 2008 (16.5 million EUR). Therewith, GIM’s business development exceeds the total development of the market research sector which records declining turnovers of more than 5% and in single cases even up to 30%, according to the magazine Context 01/2010. According to the Context Ranking 2009 GIM belongs to the Top 10 full-service institutes in Germany. The stable development proves right GIM’s diversification strategy regarding branches and offers. Moreover, it endorses the emphasis of GIM’s research. Since its foundation GIM has focused on pre-testing as well as trend and innovation research. Especially in critical times it is indispensable for producers to get a clear orientation for their future strategies. GIM offers the adequate research solutions.
Both managers, Wilhelm Kampik and Stephan Teuber, are especially proud of the human resource development. Ten trainees are now employed on a permanent basis since the end of the year of 2009. “While 2009 innumerous competitors had to reduce their personnel, we are very glad to be consistent in our tradition of a long-term human resource development. By taking over 10 trainees in undated contracts we secure the personnel basis for the future development of our institute.”
Yet, despite the positive current request situation 2010 promises to become a year of big challenges for the market research sector. The trend towards discussing research budgets critically will continue and thus the appreciation for modular research designs, says Wilhelm Kampik. Thanks to its broad spectrum of methods and branches GIM is well equipped for 2010.
For this year GIM plans new investments in research and development especially in the field of qualitative online and target group research to keep on meeting the expectations of more and more demanding costumers.
