« backBeauty 50+ – GIM at the DGK Symposium in Nuremberg
On May 6 - 8, 2009, the 18th Sypmosium of the German Association for Scientific and Applied Cosmetics (DGK) will take place. Focus of the event will be the challenges that aging inflicts on skin and hair.
In her presentation “Beauty 50+ - more than just being beautiful” Renate Arndt, director of the GIM Competence Centre 50+ talks about the characteristics and the specific needs of the target group 50+ regarding the inner and outer reception of their own beauty. In the view of 50+ women, attractiveness and health at an advanced age cannot be left to chance. There is a high level of responsibility that every woman has to put up with and even kind of an obligation to actively work on a well-groomed and attractive appearance. But also for men, times of slacking have long gone. Usually the social and business environment encourages them to be proactive regarding their attractiveness. If not, the women in their lives softly pressure them to do so.
The risen standards regarding the own appearance lead to higher expectations towards products on a functional and on an emotional level. Also ‘functional food’ products and ‘cosmoceuticals’ become more accepted as a result of this development. It is therefore very sensible to do research with accomplished 50+-experts about how they treat themselves and what they consume and use the findings as a potential for product alignment, services and communication.
